Discussions/Announcements

Recent LILUG InstallDay

LILUG President Matt Newhall mentioned that the recent Install Day on Sunday 7 January 2001 wasn't well attended, and thus we'll probably have another one in March, before the general meeting of 13 March.

LinuxWorld

LinuxWorld is coming up. LILUG will probably be sharing a booth with LXNY. We still can use some members to cover our booth. Remember, you can get free floor admission and a discount on the other events if you help out!

Raffle at Next Meeting

We will have a couple of items (a book on DNS bind and a copy of Quake III) to be raffled off at the next meeting, courtesy of Matt N.

Compling the 2.4 Kernel

Recent mailing list activity centered around how to compile the 2.4 kernel. Not too many members have attempted it yet. It turns out that it's okay to build the kernel as a non-root user in your own home directory and then install as root, or to do the whole process as root within a symlinked directory (such as /usr/src/linux) which points to the actual source.

Group Business

Raffle

Jim Brown won a copy of Myth II - Soulfighter

Next Month

We will have a LAN Party at the next general meeting.
Secretary's Note: In the days following the meeting, it was announced on the mailing list that Erik Troan of RedHat will becoming to the February meeting. Thus the LAN party will be held in March instead.
