LILUG General Meeting - Tuesday, 9 July, 2002

From Lilug

Meeting Summary

The meeting started about a half hour late after herding folks over to Gleason Hall from Roosevelt, where we weren't meeting!

Speaker

  • Chris Knadle - Samba
LILUG Vice-President Chris Knadle gave a talk and demonstration on Samba - how to configure it, how it works, and some of the issues surrounding using it.

Discussions/Announcements

Eric Raymond at NYPCUG

Leftonred announced that the New York Personal Computer User Group will be having Eric Raymond as the guest speaker at the Weds. 21 Aug. 2002 meeting.

Next Meeting Location

The August meeting (and possibly the September meeting) will also be held in Gleason, not Roosevelt.

BSD

There has been a lot of discussion on the LILUG mailing list in the last few days about BSD. Matt Newhall asked for a show of hands as to how many people would like to hear a LILUG talk about BSD. The vast majority of the members in the room put their hands up. Therefore, it is likely (as long as there are volunteers) that we'll have a talk about BSD at the August meeting.

Group Business

Raffles

  • Heretic II: Jim Memoli
  • Quake III: Eddy Starling
  • Parallel port Zip drive with 10 100-MB disks: LeftOnRed
