LinuxWorld Experience
- One group member recounted his experience at the recent LinuxWorld. He had listened to the keynote address by Linus Torvalds, who he described as timid yet funny. He also sat in on a couple of "Birds Of A Feather" sessions on Debian and Enlightenment.
Taos
- Gail Vaillancourt from Taos, a consulting company, asked if anyone was interested in being considered for hire by her firm, which specializes in placing SysAdmins into assignments which typically last about 6-10 months. She brought along free T-shirts and screwdrivers, which the membership readily snapped up!
RedHat Certification
- Bill Fitch announced he had taken 2 of the new courses offered by RedHat on ther Certified Linux SysAdmin track (133 and 253). These classes cost $2000 each and prepare you for the eventual certification exam. The exam itself costs $750 to take.
Group Business
Possible Future Programmers' Camp
- Tom R. raised the idea of holding a programmer's camp in the near future. A straw poll showed many members would be interested in attending and most would be able to do so on a weekend. Tom will post further ideas on this to the mailing list.
