LILUG General Meeting - Tuesday, 8 August, 2006

From Lilug

Meeting Summary

Speaker

  • Jeff Sipek - GNU Privacy Guard, Part One
LILUG Special Publicity Coordinator Jeff Sipek gave the first of his two part talk series on GNU Privacy Guard. Jeff had a nifty PDF handout and PDF slideshow to accompany his talk.
Before the next meeting, the following will happen:
  1. Each LILUGer who wants to participate generates a key pair
  2. Send the public key to Jeff (he'll publish an email address for this
  3. Jeff will compile a list of keys after the deadline has passed
  4. Jeff will then publish the list on this wiki
  5. Each LILUGer will then verify that his/her key is correct (and immediately let Jeff know if it's not!)
  6. Print a copy of the fingerprint list and bring it next month
Then we will have a key-signing party at the September LILUG meeting. Each owner will read the fingerprint out loud, and will present sufficient ID to prove he or she is that person. Everyone else present can verify on his/her own list that the person and the key belong together.
After the meeting, each person will go home, and for each key he/she has verified, will sign that key. Jeff will collect the public keys and then combine them into a LILUG keyring.
