  • Tim Sailer - Asterisk
LILUG member Tim Sailer gave a talk about Asterisk, an Open Source PBX, which included a handout (PDF format) and a live demonstration. He mentioned, among many other things, that if you want to buy equipment, you might as well go through digium.com, since they are the pioneers and the main contributors to the Asterisk program.

Discussions/Announcements

Digital Life Convention

LILUG Treasurer Jason K reported that there is a convention coming up this Thursday through Sunday (14-17 Oct) at the Javits Center in Manhattan, sponsored by Digital Life. It is a technology and entertainment event for consumers. Jason has information on how to get free tickets.

November Meeting Topic

LILUG President Matt Newhall reported that Bart Mallio will be coming in November, and possibly December (!), to speak about Security-Enhanced Linux.

NY BSD Users Group

LILUG Vice-President Mark Drago reported that the NY BSD Users Group will be having 2 very special guests at their next meeting: Eric Allman & Marshall Kirk McKusick will be speaking there. The meeting is being held at the Columbia University Mathematics Bldg., Room 312, on Saturday Oct 16th at 2 PM
