Speakers
- John Kuczewski - MythTV
- LILUG member John Kuczewski gave an in-depth talk about MythTV
- John discussed what a PVR is, then discussed TiVO and how it has harmed our freedom. He then talked about how MythTV is the "free Tivo".
- MythTV is based on the client/server model. John discussed the functions that MythTV has and what hardware and software is needed to run it in a networked environment. John then discussed the official MythTV plugins, and also showed some of the unofficial ones as well.
- John briefly covered the distributions that can be used to install MythTV and also gave a quick overview of the install process. He then went on to dicuss more advanced topics in installation, including using LVM and dynamic DNS.
- The talk concluded with John attempting to give a live demo. Although this was not functioning completely, it was possible to see the menuing system and look at some archived content on John's MythTV server.

Discussions/Announcements
Dreamhost Hosting Move
- The LILUG government members announced we will start moving LILUG web bits and bobs to a new hosting site during this month. There should not be much disruption, if any, for accessing the wiki, mailing list, etc.
OpenSauce 2007
- Our annual picnic is coming this Saturday the 14th! It will be held at Bethpage State Park (right near Farmingdale). The LILUG government will bring essentials like buns and burgers, plus cups, napkins and utensils. Members who come can provide liquid refreshments and other consumables. Check the website for more info, especially on the day of the picnic in case there is a doubt due to prevaling weather conditions.
A Planet Of Our Own
- John Teddy reminded the group that he had setup planet.lilug.org and showed what it looks like. All members are encouraged to speak to John if they have personal RSS feeds they'd like incorporated into this site.
